The Logan County Board of Education hosted their Awards Celebration of County, State and National Winners Thursday evening at the Coalfield Jamboree.

Students recognized were presented a certificate listing their achievement by Logan County School Superintendent Wilma Zigmond.

Opening entertainment was provided by Logan County students who are members of the Appalachian Children’s Chorus.

Academic Challenge Regional Winners: Jacob Asbury, Brooke Burgess, Isaac Collins, Katie Collins, Grace Crosby, Gunar Curry, S. Caleb Davis, Tyler Dugan, Martha Ellis, Jake Frye, Grant Gambill, Kenna Laws, Abby Lusk, Alex Lusk, Logan Mangus, Jacob McCoy, Sravya Pidaparthi, Keely Porter, Zachary Short, Brian Trent, Jacob Trogden, Matt Walker, Hayley Weese and Hope Weese.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) Robotics: Jackie Adams, Rodney Adams, Rachel Ball, Brandon Gibson, Chris Lell, Kira Owsley, Lasyapriya Pidaparthi, Sravya Pidaparthi, John Sansone, Cody Spence, Matthew Walker and Michael Wilson.

Golden Horseshoe County Winners: Alex Berry, Andrew Bias and Lasyapriya Pidaparthi, all from Chapmanville Middle School, and Michael Bryant, Man Middle Schoo.

Logan County Spelling Bee: Lasyapriya Pidaparthi, 1st place; Amiri Bartley, Runner Up, and Brandon Hill and Kaitlyn Spriggs, Alternates.

Math Field Day County Winners:

Elementary Level — Kira Holland, 2nd Place; Nilaya Kanuri, 1st Place; Brandon McClung, 3rd Place, and Aaron Vannatter, Alternate.

Junior High Level — Shawn Gore, Lasyapriya Pidaparthi, Kyle Porter and Emily Triplett, 1st Place; Daphney Akers, Caleb Lawson, Joseph Phipps and Jacob Trogdon, 2nd Place; Caylin Booth, Bryce Fortune, Cory France and Samuel Justice, 3rd Place; Dylan Brown, Isaac Collins, Advait Patel and Savannah Toney, Alternates.

Senior High Level — Tabitha McCormick and Srarya Pidaparthi-1st Place; Martha Ellis and Casey France, 2nd Place; Sklar Prichard and Zachery Short, 3rd Place, and Greg Duty, Megan Farley, Matt Greene and Marcus Murrell, Sierra Ruppert and Brian Trent, Alternates. Tabitha Ferguson, Tyler Howerton, Lonnie Lucas, Abby Lusk, Chase Mullins, Kishan Patel and Rachel Toppings were also honored but no placement was listed.

SkillsUSA Competition: Brandon Gibson and Mark Lawson, both won 3rd Place in Computer Technology-Web Design; Chris Mitchell won 2nd Place in HVAC & R, and John Sansone and Mike Wilson won place in Robotics & Automation Technology.

WV History Bowl team winners: Chapmanville Middle School, 1st place, team members are Alex Berry, Andrew Bias, Joe Phipps and Lasyapriya Pidaparthi, and Logan Middle School, 3rd place, team members Logan Adkins, Kendah L. Bowen, Elijah Coleman and Bethany Cook.

Young Writers: Zoie Belcher, Grade 1-2; Elias Jeffrey, Grade 3-4; Heather Nagy, Grade 12; Caleb Price, Grade 7-8 and Savannah Toney, Grade 5-6.
