CHAPMANVILLE — Visitors to the Logan Farmer’s Market can now find wide array of fresh vegetables and fruit, along with potted flowers and shrubs.
John Crihfield Farms and Greenhouses, who is also at the Charleston Farmer’s Market, has brought a large selection of farm-fresh produce and West Virginia Grown garden plants to the area.
Andy Crihfield said the move to Logan offered more opportunity for their business.
“We were looking for more opportunity,” said Crihfield. “We saw a need down here. We thought a bunch of new people needed some good quality produce.”
Stock currently includes a large selection of potted and hanging flowers plus fresh half-runners, potatoes, corn, squash, tomatoes and more. Garden plants ready to set out are also offered.
Crihfield said he hoped that fresh corn, beans and tomatoes will be abundant at both market locations in June.
“We raise about 80 acres of sweet corn, about 30 to 40 acres of half runner beans and put out more than 18,000 tomato plants,” said Crihfield. “We’re hoping to keep the market filled with fresh produce once the stuff starts coming in.”
The Logan Farmer’s Market is open year-round, Mon.-Sat. from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. It is located one mile west of Chapmanville at the Old Logan Road exit off Route 110. For more information, call 304-792-7017.
