Logan County voters began arriving very early at the Logan County Courthouse Wednesday as Early Voting began across the state.

According to Logan County Clerk John Turner, there were more early voters for the first day this year than in previous years.

“At 4:25 p.m. we voted 175 people,” said Turner. “That is the most in the first day … actually it almost covers the first two days than the previous.”

Turner said people began arriving at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and by 2 p.m. there had been roughly 150 take advantage of the early voting opportunity.

“That’s a good day for a first day,” said Turner. “Most of them come and vote and get it out of the way. The majority of them already know who they are voting for.”

Voters can vote at the Logan County Courthouse from 8:30 a.m.-noon and from 1-4:30 p.m.

“Saturdays, October 27 and November 3, they can vote from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. We don’t take a lunch,” said Turner.

Saturday, November 3, will be the last opportunity for early voting.

“We have two spots set aside for early voters to park,” said Turner. “Then there are the handicapped spots and courtesy spots also.”

Turner wanted voters to remember that at the end of the ballot there is the sheriff term amendment to vote for.

“There is a sheriff’s amendment that will extend their limit. Right now they are limited to two four year terms,” said Turner.

Turner said if the amendment passes, sheriffs can serve an unlimited amount of terms.

“They tried it back in ’94 or ’95 and again back in the ‘80s and it failed both times,” said Turner.

Turner said that during the last General Election, almost 50 percent of the county’s registered voters voted.

“We have roughly 24,000 registered voters, and in the 2008 election, there were 13,983 people who voted,” said Turner. “Hopefully we’ll have a good turnout this year.”

Again, people can vote early at the Logan County Courthouse until November 3 between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1-4:30 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays.

I hope lots of people come out early to vote AGAINST Bobo! Michelle Bobo said she wanted nothing better than to walk out the front door of the White House and to keep walking and not turn around. Let's not disappoint her. I hope the screen door hits both of them in the tush as they walk out. Bobo says he needs another 4 years to completely ruin America; that is why most people are voting early to get rid of the bum!

I would like to see Bobo bow one more time: Put up a big picture of Putin, Castro, and Hugo Chavez leading up to the plane transporting the Bobo's back to Chicago. As Bobo bows to his heros, have someone kick him squarely on the bottom! That act would make me again proud to be an America!

Bobo can join Jimmy Carter in the presidential hall of shame!
