In a press release issued by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy J. M. Miller was on a routine patrol when he came upon a motor vehicle crash on US 119 Friday morning at 5:44 am.
The crash took place between Airport Road and Caney Branch on US 119 in Logan County.
According to Deputy Miller, the driver of a truck was traveling northbound on U.S. 119. The driver was in the left-hand lane and drove up on the concrete berm the of median, then lost control of his truck.
The truck struck the guardrail, traveled down the middle of the median and took out approximately 200 feet of guardrail and throwing debris and diesel fuel across both north and southbound lanes of U.S. 119.
The driver was William Christian, of Limestone, and he had a 14-year-old passenger with him. There were no injuries reported.
Christian was cited for failure to maintain control and the Public Safety Commission (PSC) is currently inspecting the truck. The fire department, LEASA, department of highways (DOH) and PSC were called out to assist the Logan County Sheriff’s Department on this crash.
The roadway had to be shut down this morning, but has reopened, creating delays for drivers as the clean-up continues.
