Cameron retiree receives Distinguished West Virginian Award

CAMERON —Logan County native Charlie Shadd was presented the Distinguished West Virginian Award by Raamie Barker, Senior Advisor to Governor Earl Ray Tomblin. The Governor and Shadd attended high school together.

Mayor Julie Beresford, on behalf of The City of Cameron, welcomed Barker to a retirement party for Shadd, who was a city employee.

Barker congratulated Shadd on his outstanding achievement and meritorious service and presented him with the award, which reads, “The state of West Virginia hereby recognizes your exceptional accomplishment and confers this commendation in your name this 26th Day of October, 2012 - Governor Earl Ray Tomblin.”

The Distinguished West Virginian award was created to honor those who have contributed significantly to West Virginia or West Virginians and have brought positive attention to the state.
