HURRICANE, W.Va. — Kelly Dean Elkins of Hurricane, formerly of Logan, passed away June 17, 2003.

Born July 13, 1955 in Portsmouth, Va., he was a son of the late Kelly and Hazel Elkins. Also preceding him in death was one sister, Pam Browning, and brother, Larry James.

Survivors include five sisters and two brothers, Betty (Arnold) Browning, Linda (Danny) Hall, Jerry (Charlotte) McAllister and Terry McAllister, all of Logan, Judy (Ralph) Dunevant of Mayfield, Ky., Cherry (Ken) Perry of Anchorage, Alaska, and Robin (Ed) Hicks of Hurricane, and many, many nephews and nieces.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Hurricane Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

John Browning

LEDYARD, Conn. — John Sidney Browning of Ledyard, Conn., passed away April 24, 2013.

Born December 4 1941, he was a son of the late John H. and Sally Browning of Crooked Creek. He was married to the late Gail Merritt Browning for 18 wonderful years. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Tommy Browning, Buster Browning, and Everett Browning, all of Crooked Creek.

John worked as a mold maker for Wyman Gordon for 33 years before his retirement in 2006.

He loved playing his guitar and attending bluegrass festivals with his many friends. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR racing, the Boston Red Sox; UCONN Women’s basketball, and the Connecticut Sun.

Survivors include a daughter, Sally Jo Browning of Newport, R.I.; stepdaughter, Lynn Merritt of Stonington, Conn.; sister, Shirley Wright of Warner Robins, Ga.; brother-in-law, Jerry Merritt of Groton, Conn.; and longtime friend and caregiver, Eric Lundberg of Ledyard.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

The Dinoto Funeral Home of Mystic, Conn., has assisted the family.
