Sid Gullett has been through a lot in his life. He is a veteran, a father, a husband and a retired truck driver. He is also a pretty skilled golfer, but he would never admit to that himself. In fact, Gullett has been golfing for over 40 years.“You don’t just go out and start golfing,” Gullet said when asked why he began golfing. “I started in the 70s. It’s a tough game… it’s a brain game is what it is. Your brain is trying to tell your body what to do and your body don’t listen.”But earlier this month, just after his 78th birthday, he accomplished something he never thought he would have the joy of experiencing — he hit his first hole-in-one.

DANIELS — Many local public defenders were recognized at an annual awards ceremony sponsored by U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin on Thurs., Sept. 16.
