Logan employers awed by BOSS tour

West Virginia’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve partnered with the Logan County Chamber of Commerce to host a BOSS tour Fri., July 25 at the W.Va. National Guard’s Camp Branch landing zone in Logan County.The Camp Branch site is owned by Alpha Natural Resources. What used to be a surface mine has now been turned into an airstrip for the West Virginia National Guard. Alpha and the WV National Guard have been working together since 2005 to utilize the reclaimed land, and they are not finished yet. There are talks of bringing other training opportunities for the guard up on top of the mountain.

 

Logan Co. PSD issues boil water advisory

The Logan County Public Service District has issued a boil water advisory for customers of Little Harts Creek and Francis Creek due to an interruption of water service.Customers are advised to bring the water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using. Bottled water is another alternative. Also, use caution while doing laundry.For more information, contact the Logan County PSD at 304-946-2641.

LOGAN — Residents of Big Harts will soon be seeing signs of safe, abundant water coming to their area when construction begins on the Big Harts Water Project.The Big Harts Water Project is a $25M project that will serve nearly 800 customers when completed. Recreational vehicle rides leads to drug arrests

Two area men were arrested recently for drug charges while riding recreational vehicles.On July 15, William Obrian Copley, 26, of Davin, was observed riding a green Kawasaki ZX14 travelling over the yellow line on Copperas Fork Road by the West Virginia State Police.When the Troopers initiated a stop, Copley allegedly accelerated to an excessively high rate of speed. Daily, I glance at the large calendar on the wall that looks down on my writing area. Last month it reminded me of Father’s Day and my super father and father-in-law.
