Zach Lamb booted in a hat trick of goals for the Chapmanville Regional High School boys' soccer team and led the Tigers to a 7-2 win over Tug Valley on Tuesday night at Chapmanville in the regular season finale.

Xavier Trump reached the back of the net just 30 seconds into the match as the Tigers improved to 7-9-4.

"If you blinked, you would have missed it," CRHS coach Jay Trump said.

Lamb later assisted on a pair of goals, one from Carlos Sheppard, his first tally of the season.

"With Carlos being a senior it was the icing on the cake for him," Trump said.

Sophomore Connor Farley also scored his first goal of the season in the win.

Ben Chapman also scored a goal for Chapmanville.

"Chapman played at goalie for the first half of the game and made some impressive saves," Trump said. "You cannot take the Tug Valley team lightly. We played with size and speed in the back line with Andrew Williams, Clay Dodrill, Brycen Tomblin and Dillon Holton. They have some strong players and proved that in the second half of play with them hitting the net twice."

The CRHS team was low on numbers this season.

"We started out with seven strong and ended up with the mighty 13," Coach Trump said. "No matter what was tossed at these boys they played with heart. I want to say good luck in the sectionals next week and to the seniors let's go out big. Zach Lamb, Ben Chapman, Devin Cyfers and Carlos Shappard it's been one heck of a trip so let's try and keep the trip going to the end."

Chapmanville received the No. 6 seed in the eight-team Class AA/A sectionals and is scheduled to play at No. 3 seed Lincoln County (10-3-1) on Monday, October 15 at 6 p.m. at the Lincoln County soccer field in Hamlin. The Panthers beat the Tigers 6 to nil and 7 to nil this season.

All sectional games are slated to be played on Monday night.

No. 8 seed Tug Valley (1-6-1) plays at No. 1 seed and nationally ranked Winfield (17-0-1). Winless Logan (0-17-2), the No. 7 seed, travels to No. 2 Scott (14-4). No. 5 Poca (5-11-3) goes to No. 4 Huntington St. Joe (6-7-1).

The girls' sectional pairings have also been announced. Those games will be played on Monday at 8 p.m.

Top seed Winfield (15-1-1) hosts No. 8 Sherman (2-10), while No. 7 Chapmanville (6-14-1) travels to No. 2 Huntington St. Joe (16-2). No. 6 Logan (5-12-2) heads to No. 3 Lincoln County (12-5) and No. 5 Poca (6-8-2) plays at No. 4 Scott (7-8).
