CHAPMANVILLE — Wally Thornhill wants Logan Countians to get healthy.

Thornhill, last week, donated $30,000 to the Chief Logan Rec Center and pledged to all of his employees to give them each $50 toward their memberships in the Rec Center.

Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin was on hand for the check presentation to Terry Mullins, the director of the Chief Logan Rec Center.

Tomblin and Thornhill both said they are tired of Logan County ranking as one of the unhealthiest in the nation and the Chief Logan Rec Center is a good place to start getting everyone healthy.

“This is a commitment to changing lifestyles,” Thornhill said.

“It is so important for all of us to get healthy,” Tomblin said.

The Chief Logan Rec Center, which is in its first year of existence and has tennis courts, weights, an Olympic-sized swimming pool and other workout equipment, already has nearly 1,000 members.
