Police identified the victim of Friday’s accident as Vernon Maynard. His wrecked ATV was found nearby.
State police told The Herald-Dispatch of Huntington that Maynard apparently was tossed from his ATV, then hit by a passing vehicle. That vehicle has not been located.
An investigation is under way.
