It’s worth the walk to shop in Logan

The Aracoma Hotel fire and building collapse couldn’t have happened at a worse time.

Not only did the fire stall traffic in downtown Logan, the collapse of one corner of the building caused the streets in a large part of the shopping district to be shut down — the day before Black Friday, which is the biggest shopping day of the year and the state of the Christmas shopping season.

The streets might be closed down, but the shops are still open for business.

It’s just a short walk into downtown Logan and parking is being made available to help accommodate shoppers who want to do business on Main Street and Stratton Street.

We urge people NOT to give up on shopping in downtown Logan. City officials are working on finding a solution to the street closures and, hopefully, a contractor can come in and demolish the hotel structure so that everything can be reopened in Logan.

It’s worth the short walk into downtown Logan to do your shopping here.
