PALESTINE, W.Va. — Fonnis Eugene Toler, 55, of Palestine, formerly of Gilbert, passed away Saturday December 11, 2010 in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital at Parkersburg.

Born June 4, 1955, in Logan, he was the first son of Eugene and Zola Robinson Toler. Also preceding him in death was an infant son, Michael Anthony Toler; an infant granddaughter, Southerlyn Mychelle Toler, and grandparents Nancy and Cecil Robinson and Betty and Garland Toler.

Fonz attended the Riverview Freewill Baptist Church in Slabtown, near Tamcliff. He cherished his family, was an avid hunter, loved his animals especially horses, his music playing and singing with groups or family. His most enjoyment in life was being with his family and friends. Wherever he would go he always had or made many friends. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Fonz was always ready to help in any way that he could, when he was needed. He had a heart of gold, we’ll never forget. He was a disabled coal miner, last working for Red Ash Coal Company in Ikes Fork and a previous owner of T&T Discount Carpet in Elizabeth.

Survivors include his ex-wife and best friend, Teresa Toler of Palestine; four sons, Mark “Punk” Toler (fiancée Candice) and Clarence Edward “Munk” Toler, both of Palestine, and Shawn David Toler (fiancée Patty) and Fonnis Shane Toler (fiancée Tiffany) both of Hanover; five sisters, Earnestine (Rev. Jimmy Joe) Grimmett of Verner, Wanda (Sammy) Mendez of Lynco, Mary Ann Wiley of Gilbert, Doris Mae Toler of Palestine, and Teresa (Terry) Cline of Baisden; six brothers, Darrell (Glenda) Toler of Baisden, Jackie Dale (Melissa) Toler of Elk Lick, Terry Lee (Ruby) Toler of Gilbert, Gary Wayne (Tammy) Toler of North Springs, Teddy (Tonya) Morgan of Hanover, and Denny (Michelle) Toler of Baisden, and 12 grandchildren, Casey, Braxton, Amber, Corey, Luke, Sean, Nettie, Trenton, Dylan, Kolton, Austin, and Jewleea; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Services will be held at noon Wednesday, December 15, at the Riverview Freewill Baptist Church at Slabtown near Tamcliff with Rev. Michael Cale officiating. Fonz will be laid to rest in Garden of Memories at Crouches Farm.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the church
