The Lady Cats are back above .500 after pounding county rival Man, 61-19, on Wednesday afternoon at Logan’s Willie Akers Arena in a makeup game before the student body.
Logan improved to 5-4 on the season with the win and have already surpassed last year’s win total of four.
The Lady Cats, coming on the heels of Tuesday’s 57-55 win at Tolsia, have now won three out of their last four games.
Thirteen Logan players broke into the scorebooks in yesterday’s rout.
“It was a good Tolsia win and this was a good win too,” said Gertz, Logan’s first-year head coach. “The girls came out with a lot of intensity and everyone got to play. They played well and I was proud of them.”
Katie Chryssofos led Logan with 13 points. Erica Kelley and Jessica Bias also reached double digits in scoring with 12 and 11 points respectively.
Jasmine Workman and Hannah Kolovich tallied five each. Jenna Kimler had three, while Hannah Tothe, Faydra Martin, Taylor Bevins, Katie Kirk and Kelsey Kirk all had two each. Emily Vinson and Taylor Helms chipped in with one point each.
Man dropped to 3-6 with the loss.
The Lady Billies, playing the game without two regular players, were led by Morgan Conn’s 10 points. Summer Sword was held to four points, while Morgan Church and Marissa Wisecup had two each and Emilee Osborne had one point.
Logan led 24-4 after one quarter, 34-10 at the half and 44-16 after three. The Lady Cats then outpointed Man 17-3 in the fourth quarter.
Logan returns to action on Friday at Class AAA sectional rival Lincoln County. The Lady Cats beat the Lady Panthers, 73-52, on Dec. 20.
