COW CREEK, W.Va. — Evelene Mae Hughes, 82, of Cow Creek, departed this life Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Trinity Healthcare of Logan.

Born January 23, 1928, at Pine Creek, she was a daughter of the late Barney Pennington and Minnie Blevins Pennington Ritchie. Also preceding her in death was her son, Greg Hughes; brothers, Delmar, Robert, Grady, Charles Ray and Marvin Beecher, Frank Pennington, and Claude and Levi Ritchie.

Mae was of the Freewill Baptist faith and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Ronald Hughes; two sons, Delbert and Edwin Hughes, both of Cow Creek; two daughters, Brenda Solomon of Dawsonville, Ga., and Glenna Mayhorn of Forest, Va.; one brother, George Lee Ritchie of Big Creek; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, January 9, at the Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Cecil Spry officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
