WV Legislature wants to ban our free speech

Just days after the United States Supreme Court ruled that funeral protests by the Westboro Baptist Church are legal under the First Amendment, the West Virginia Legislature decides to push ahead with its own bill that makes funeral protests a crime.

While we don’t support the Westboro Baptist Church in their protests, we do support the church’s right to freedom of speech — even when it’s bad speech.

The highest court in the land rules in favor of free speech and our West Virginia lawmakers are wanting to infringe on our First Amendment rights.

We think last year’s Barbie Ban proposal was a lot smarter than this incredibly stupid idea.

The West Virginia Legislature needs to worry more about state finances and bringing jobs to the Mountain State rather than trying to cut into the rights given to us by the Constitution of the United States of America.

This proposed infringment on free speech by the W.Va. legislature must be defeated.

This is only a Conservative/Republican/Fascists attempt to drive another political wedge between the people of our State.

Any vote for this Anti-Constitutional infringment of free speech by our County elected officials should be publicly noted.
