Introducing - Barry and Amanda Earles of Marysville, Ohio, are proud to announce the birth of their second son, Jackson Christopher. Jackson was born November 22,2010 at Dublin Methodist Hospital in Dublin, Ohio, weighing 8 pounds 13 ounces and 21 inches long. He is the brother of Gabriel Jason Earles of Marysville Ohio and the grandson of Richard and Vena McGuire of Mill Creek and of Greg and Faye Earles of McConnell. He is the great-grandson of Violet White and the late Jack White of Mill Creek, the late Bernard and Ella McGuire, James and Betty Earles and Nola and the late Bill Watson of McConnell.

Adkins-Betancourt wed - Melissa Cheryl Adkins and George Alexander Betancourt were united in marriage on September 25, 2010, at the sanctuary on Kiawah Island, S.C. Rev. William Schlitt officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Randy and Olivia Carpenter of Hot Springs, Va., and Richard Adkins of Winchester, Ky. The groom is the son of Jose and Carmen Betancourt of Orlando, Fla. The bride was escorted by her stepfather, Randy Carpenter. She wore an ivory Watters bridal gown trimmed in lace and her veil was ivory single tier and of fingertip length. The bouquet she carried was a beautiful hand-tied pink and ivory arrangement. Angela Huggins, sister of the bride served as matron of honor. Jose Betancourt, brother of the groom, was the best man. The flower girls were Audrey Huggins, niece of the bride, and Amelia Betancourt, daughter of the groom. The ringbearer was Trey Huggins, nephew of the bride. Grandmother of the bride, Louise Carpenter, was also in attendance. Only sixteen guests were present, making the wedding uniquely intimate and private. It was important to the bride and groom to share this special day with their closest family members. The evening ceremony which included a tradition called "Hands Ceremony" took place overlooking the ocean on the grand lawn at the resort. Ms. Celia Reardon, classical guitarist of South Carolina performed. Jack Johnson's Banana Pancakes was chosen by the bride and groom for the recessional song. Following the ceremony a dinner reception took place inside the sanctuary at the Jasmine Porch Restaurant. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii. The bride is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and of Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, N.C., where she earned a degree in dental hygiene. She is currently employed with Dr. Robert Dixon. The groom is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and also of the University of Connecticut where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree. He practices dentistry in Charlotte where the newlyweds currently reside.

Couple to wed May 18 in Mexico - The parents of Amy Kathryn McGuire and William Lance Haught are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children. Amy is the daughter of Richard and Vena McGuire of Pecks Mill. She attended Logan High School and graduated from West Virginia University with a Masters of Science in Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner. Amy is employed as a nurse practitioner with Dr B Haffar in Charleston. Lance is the son of Keith and Elaine Haught of Logan. He attended Logan High School and graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Management Information Systems. Lance is a corporate purchasing agent with McJunkin Red Man Corporation in Charleston. A beach ceremony is planned for May 18, 2011 in Tulum, Mexico.

Smith honored for birthday - Betty Jo Smith of Davin was surprised with an 80th birthday celebration on February 10, 2011, at the Campus Church of God by her children and friends.
