Born July 14, 1923, at Monaville, she was a daughter of the late William R. and Mina Dere Thompson. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Alvie Kelly Sr.; one daughter, Mina Conley; five sisters, Mary Ferrell, Ruth Lawson, Helen Smith, Vivian Bentley and Katherine Berry; two brothers, Carl and Billy Thompson, and her father and mother-in-law, Evan and Bertha Kelly.
Mable was a member of Rocky Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She was a happy, spirited Godly woman; she was saved when she was 16 years old at the Monaville Church which her mother was instrumental in getting started. Mable, along with two of her sisters, would visit other churches to sing. They were called the Thompson sisters. Mable grew up during the depression and they didn’t always have much to eat, but they had plenty of love. In the summer you would always see her in her swing on the porch watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing. She will be deeply missed.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Connie (Jerry) Mann of Chapmanville; one son, Alvie Jr. (Audry) Kelly of Chapmanville; one sister, Francis (Wayne) Majors of Proctorville, Ohio; three granddaughters, Stephanie (Shawn) Will-is, Jeannie (Joey) Fowler, and Nikki (Chad) Baisden; four grandsons, Jimmy (Sabrina) Conley, Shawn Conley, Jerry (Tessa) Mann and Aaron (Jona) Kelly; 13 great-grandchildren, Austin and Ethan Fowler, D.J. and Faith Conley, Evan and Addy Willis, Jaeli and Justus Mann, Jett, Layla and Baby Baisden and Sophie and Ella Kelly; five special nieces, Carol (Robie) Mills, Joyce (Raymond) Porter, Lou-ise Bond, Mary Putman and Sherlie Ellis; two special nephews, Alvie Putman and Ronnie Ellis; one son-in-law, Jim Conley, and one sister-in-law, Joyce Thompson.
