Ashton was born at 3:08 a.m. March 19, 2011, at CAMC Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Charleston. He weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches long. Ashton is the grandson of Leonard Dale and Mollie Sheppard of Cora and Melwin and Marie Mayhorn of Crooked Creek.

Browning-Meadows to wed - Rick and Patsy Browning of Verner are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda, to Christopher Meadows. The bride-elect is a graduate of Gilbert High School and Marshall University. She is employed at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas as a clinical dietitian, specializing in obesity and diabetes management. The prospective groom is the son of Denise Meadows of Huntington and James and Kristi Meadows of Chesapeake, Ohio. He is a graduate of Huntington High School and Marshall University. He is employed at Wells Fargo Insurance Services in Houston as a business development officer. A beach wedding is being planned for May 29, 2011, at the Outer Banks in North Carolina.

50th wedding anniversary - Jimmy and Mildred Hanna of Chapmanville are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today. The couple were joined in marriage on April 10, 1961 by the late Roy Jeffrey. Retired, Jimmy was a former milkman for Barker's Dairy and a bricklayer. Mildred is retired from the Logan County Board of Education.
