Summer activities coming soon

Local singers, actors and actresses will perform for the public this summer with several outdoor venues courtesy of the Aracoma Story Inc. at Chief Logan State Park Amphitheater. The long running theatrical troup has some major shows planned in June, July and August with outdoor presentations of "Cinderella", "The Aracoma Story:Spirits and Legends", and "Disney's The Jungle Book."

First up will come the beloved fairy tale Cinderella from June 14-July 3. You can enjoy Cinderella, the wicked step sisters and ol Prince Charming himself as the classic fable comes to life on stage with music and comedy for the whole family's enjoyment.

A variation on local folklore The Aracoma Story focuses on events in the lives of Chief John Logan, Chief Cornstalk, Princess Aracoma and Bolling Baker which blends the stories of the pioneers verses the Native Americans into an exciting outdoor drama. This is a new version of the story which has been in constant annual production for decades.The show is tremendously enjoyable due to the great cast, sets, costumes and action. The Aracoma Story Spirits and Legends runs from July 19 - August 6. More music and family fun return to the stage when Rudyard Kipling's classic tale of a boy raised by Jungle Animals comes to life in Disney's The Jungle Book from August 9-14. The Jungle will be Jumping again when the very best local actors and actresses in the youth category being the tale to audiences of all ages. Last summer the show drew in hundreds nightly and you can see why starting August 9-14.

For outdoorsmen you may want to make your plans now to catch the first ever Chief Logan Hunting and Fishing Outdoor Expo on July 16 and 17 at Chief Logan State Park's Convention and Conference Center. This exciting new event is being sponsored by the Logan County Chamber of Commerce and the Hatfield-McCoy Convention and Visitor's Bureau and will feature world famous bowhunter Chuck Adams, as well as all sorts of vendors, gear and other activities, including an Archery Tournament, Bird Dog seminars, Coyote Calling seminars and more.
