Each coach or spokesperson from a team gave a report on the status of their season.
An inspirational message was given by guest speaker, Lee Dean to the attendees and a luncheon followed in the church fellowship hall in their honor.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a national organization that promotes spirituality in middle school, high school, college and pro sports. Logan High has had a FCA chapter since the year 2000. The FCA meets on Fridays at lunchtime in John E. Godby's room.
Devotional and spiritual activities are presented by the co-sponsor, Charlie Minney, missionary volunteer. FCA is one of the largest organizations in membership at the school. All students can participate — it's not just for athletes.
The FCA is a gateway organization that brings in motivational speakers to encourage teens to stay alcohol, drug and tobacco free. It promotes good sportsmanship and fair play.
Former NFL Minnesota Viking, Carl Lee held an assembly last fall at LHS and FCA state director, Keith Tyler has spoken to the young people also this year.
"The FCA is a great tool and avenue for youth involvement. It is a positive prevention method against the negative evils that youth are facing in our society. FCA is an outlet that gives youth a reason to say "no" to chemical temptations that destroys the body, mind and soul. FCA allows young people to have an escape route and haven of safety with group identity," said club sponsor Rev. John E. Godby
Principal Robert Lucas and the administration of Logan High are big supports of the FCA.
