CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Mr. Rick Bowling, 52, of Chapmanville, was born May 13, 1959, at Logan, a son of the late Otis and Emma Lou Brown Bowling. He departed his life Friday, June 17, 2011, at his residence after a courageous battle with ALS commonly referred to Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Mr. Bowling was a coal miner for over 24 years, a 1977 graduate of Chapmanville High School, an assistant coach for the Chapmanville Regional High School, coached Little League Baseball and Midget League Football, a member of the Aracoma Lodge 99 AF&AM, and attended the First Church of Christ of Chapmanville.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Bowling; son, Casey (Jessica) Bowling of Chapmanville; daughter, Erin “Gooch” (Justin) Anderson of Huntington; granddaughter and love of his life who always brought a smile to his face, Jaeden O’Neil Anderson; sister, Sherri Bowling Adkins of Chapmanville; nephew, Sha Adkins; mother-in-law, Edna (Leonard) Huckeby of Matewan; sister-in-law, who he affectionately called his “Rent-a-wife”, Cathy Moore of Chapmanville; special friend, “Brother” Earl “Buggs” Dingess of Chapmanville, and a host of other family and dear friends.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville with his life long friends and mentors officiating, Ted Ellis and Danny Godby. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens at Godby with Masonic Graveside Rites.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from Noon-2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family wished to thank the following for their care, dedication and assistance in providing Rick’s Medical needs: Dr. Billy Mullen, Dr. Kamel Marzouk, Dr. Ed White, Dr. Jodi Cisco, Girling’s Home Health, Tammy’s co-workers at Logan Mingo Area Mental Health and all the unit nurses at Logan Regional Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made toward Rick’s funeral expenses.
