MESA, Ariz. — Carl Rudolph Kirk, 86, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Delbarton, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011, at the Hospice in the Valley in Mesa.

Born July 22, 1924, in Delbarton, he was a son of the late Joe and Della Adkins Kirk. Also preceding him in death was his wife Edith Kirk; two brothers and two sisters.

Carl was a bus driver, chief of Delbarton Volunteer Fire Dept., chief of Delbarton Police, head of maintenance for the West Virginia State Road Dept. and a heavy equipment operator in the mines. He was also a deacon of the Connelly Memorial Baptist Church at Delbarton.

Survivors include one son, Wally Kirk of Buckeye, Ariz.; one sister, Jean Hanshaw; three grandchildren, Sonya Stevens, Kevin Kirk and Teana Szakacs, and seven great-grandchildren, Kristyn Szakacs, Marissa Stevens, Justin Szakacs, Michaela Stevens, Rebecca Kirk, Lauryn Szakacs and Carson Szakacs.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at the Connelly Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lenore Memorial Gardens at Lenore.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Deacons and trustees of the church will serve as pallbearers.
