The West Virginia Freedom Festival is proud to announce that Marca Renee Hobbs of Logan will represent both Logan County and the WV Freedom Festival at the West Virginia Association of Fairs and Festivals in Charleston. The pageant will be held January 11-14. This is the third year the WV Freedom Festival queen has competed for the state title.
Former WV Freedom Festival queens that have competed on the state level include Brittany Amburgey and Sha Hall. To win the state title, you must attend the three day convention in Charleston and compete on several different levels. You must compete in Event Promotion, Street Wear, Judge Interview and Evening Gown. Contestants also get to attend a queen’s luncheon and lodge in the Marriott in Charleston.
Hobbs is the 17-year old daughter of Mark Hobbs of Logan and Sheryl Goss of Florida. Hobbs' favorite hobbies include playing tennis, hanging out with her friends, reading, and visiting new places. Hobbs is the chaplain of the Logan High School Prayer Club, a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Teens Against Alcohol and Drugs, and the Logan High School tennis team. Her favorite class is chemistry.
Hobbs has also held the title of Miss WV Freedom Festival Princess. During her reign of this title, Hobbs was hostess of the St. Jude’s Benefit Pageant and volunteered at WV Freedom Festival related events.
The WV Freedom Festival has been organized by Amber Miller-Gore and Serafino Noletti, with the help of The Logan City Council and the City of Logan fire, police and street department for the past seven years. Under the organization, the festival has grown as well as become an active member in the WV Association of Fairs and Festivals. The 2007 WV Freedom Festival will be held July 4n7, 2007, in downtown Logan. A variety of events are being planned for the event.
