"The Omar Project. Not a Simple Story" is now on view in the Harless Library, located on the Logan Campus of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. Thus exhibit consists of twenty black and white photographs of everyday life in Omar, Logan County, along with background information. These photographs were taken in 1935 and 1938 by photographers who were employed by the federal government under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal programs.

Southern will host a gallery walk and reception on February 9 in the Harless Library, located on the Logan Campus. Betty Rivard, historian and photographer, will share the significance of the photographs, along with stories she has gathered from individuals living in Logan County during the 1930's. The public is invited to attend and share memories of growing up in Omar and Logan County.

Funds for the exhibit come from a grant to the Coalfields Convention and Visitors Bureau from the West Virginia Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities. For more information about the exhibit, please contact Pauline Sturgill at 792-7098 ext. 118.
