Logan tennis rips Sissonville, CHS

The Logan High School tennis team has picked up a pair of recent wins.

The LHS boys and girls swept by visiting Sissonville last Friday, then came back to sweep county rival Chapmanville on Tuesday, also at home.

Logan’s girls beat Chapmanville 6-1, while the boys were a 7-0 victor.

The Logan boys and girls both prevailed by 7-0 scores over Sissonville in Cardinal Conference action.

In the Logan-Chapmanville match, the Lady Wildcats’ Christina Trent toppled Kayla Saunders 8-1 in No. 1 singles action.

In the No. 2 singles, Chapmanville’s Kelsey Stowers won 8-5 over Rachel Hunt.

In the No. 3, Ashley Miller of Logan won 8-1 over Kim White.

In the No. 4, Meredith White of Logan was an 8-1 winner over Sara Henson.

Trent and Miller won their No. 1 doubles match over Chapmanville’s Saunders and Stowers by an 8-4 score.

Hunt and Meredith White won 8-1 over Kim White and Henson in the No. 2 doubles. In the No. 3 doubles, Jessica Minor and Brittany Herndon of Logan was an 8-5 victor over Laura Bailey and Whitney Jarrells.

In the Logan-Chapmanville matchup, the Wildcats won all seven matches.

Kevin Queen, Logan’s No. 1 singles man, won 8-1 over Bryan Collins.

Brent Thornhill of Logan won 8-2 over Marty Adkins in the No. 2 singles match.

In the No. 3, Logan’s Jimmy Hagy prevailed 8-0 over Chapmanville’s Sam DesRocher. In the No. 4, Travis Lukacs of Logan won 8-0 over Parth Patel.

Queen and Thornhill won 8-0 over Collins and Adkins in the No. 1 doubles. In the No. 2 doubles, Hagy and Lukacs of Logan won 8-0 over James Quick and DesRocher.

Eric Williamson and Chadd Gartin of Logan then won 8-2 over Patel and Josh Nicholson in the No. 3 doubles.

In the Logan-Sissonville matchup, Logan’s Trent (8-1), Hunt (8-2), Miller (8-0) and White (8-0) all won in girls’ singles. The Lady Cats won all three doubles matches.

On the boys’ side, Queen (8-2), Thornhill (8-1) and Hagy (8-1) won in singles matches. Queen and Thornhill won 8-0 in doubles action. Other matches were won via forfeit.

Logan is slated to see action today at St. Joe and Friday at Man.
