Mullen to run track at Marshall

For the last four years Darby Mullen has bled Blue and Gold.

On Tuesday she changed her colors to the Green and White of Marshall.

Mullen, an all-state middle distance runner on the Logan High School girls’ track and field team, signed a national letter of intent with Marshall University at Logan High School.

Mullen, who has also played for the Logan softball, basketball, volleyball and cross country teams, had planned on going to run track out of state but was recently presented with an offer from Marshall which was too good to pass up.

“I’m excited. I had planned on going out of state but I went up for my visit and I really ended up liking the team and the coaches,” Mullen said. “I prayed about it a lot and all of the other doors kind of shut on me but Marshall’s door was wide open there. The girl that I’m going to be running and rooming with is from Winfield. We’re really good friends and she is a really good Christian. Everything worked out perfectly.”

Mullen said her parents, Billy and Shari Mullen, are pleased she will be running track and attending school in Huntington as opposed to far off Iowa or Southern Miss, two of the other schools which showed interest in the Lady Wildcat runner.
