Lady Cats wrap up Cardinal Conference title

POINT PLEASANT n With Tuesday night’s 6-3 win at Point Pleasant the Logan High School girls’ softball team wrapped up the Cardinal Conference regular season championship.

Logan finished 10-3 in the league to finish first n one-half game ahead of Point. Logan, the defending Class AA state champions, also closed out the regular season with a 24-7 record.

Trailing 3-0 Logan tied it at 3 with a three-run second.

LHS then plated three in the sixth. Tara White, the winning pitcher, had an RBI double during the frame. She was 3-for-3 at the plate. On the mound, White struck out six and allowed just three hits.

Laura Noe added two hits and an RBI for Logan. Bates and Kristian Chryssofos and a hit and RBI each. Erin Stone, Stacey Sheppard and Hannah Vinson had one hit each. Christie Spurlock had an RBI.

“We’re pleased to win the title,” Logan coach Kevin Bates said. “I don’t know of any tougher a conference to play in. We played very well last night.”

Logan was set to play the winner of the Chapmanville-Scott sectional opener Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at CHS.
