Steven Lee Daniels, 20, of Logan, was arrested by West Virginia State Police Trooper J.R. Brewer for 48 counts of third degree sexual assault on May 28.
According to law enforcement reports, “the 14-year-old victim advised this officer that she and the accused, Steven Daniels, engaged in sexual intercourse approximately 48 times.”
The report also states that “the accused advised this officer he did engage in sexual intercourse with the victim.”
Daniels was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 3:45 p.m.
Daniels was also charged with assault on an officer and battery on an officer.
According to a separate police report Tpr. Brewer was responding to a domestic call at Daniels’ residence in Logan where he “gave several verbal commands to the accused to get out of the bed,” according to the report. “The defendant refused to comply. The officer attempted to get the accused out of bed, at which time the accused began to resist and fight this officer.”
Patty Jean Maynard, 42, of Mt. Gay, was arrested by troopers J.R. Brewer and P.A. Jones on May 27 for prostitution and obstructing an officer.
According to law enforcement reports the officers observed Maynard and a male allegedly walk around from a gas station in the Mt. Gay area.
“Both parties advised these officers that money was exchanged prior to a sexual act occurring,” the report states. “While questioning the accused, these officers gave several verbal commands to quit talking. While this officer was conducting the interview, the accused continued to scream towards this officers. These officers then placed the accused under arrest.”
Maynard was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 2:42 a.m.
