The Logan Water Board has received a Water Fluoridation Quality Award from the Water Fluoridation Reporting System of the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
The CDC commended the water system for its consistent and professional adjustment of the water fluoride content to the optimum level for oral health for 12 consistent months.
According to David H. Walker, DDS, Director of the Oral Health Program for the Bureau of Public Health, the Logan Water Board was presented with a 2006 Water Fluoridation Quality Award from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"This award from the CDC recognizes only those water systems that have maintained a consistent level of fluoridated water for the calendar year, as documented in the Water Fluoridation Rating System," Walker wrote to the water plant.
"Community water fluoridation has been recognized by the CDC as one of the 10 great public health achievements of the 20th century. CDC recommends water fluoridation as a safe, effective and inexpensive method of preventing tooth decay in all ages."
