The Tigers, which were 15th last week, are 4-2 heading into this Friday night’s game at county rival and Single-A Man.
Logan, losers of two straight games, dropped from 12th to 19th this week. The Wildcats (3-2) are set to play at Winfield on Friday night.
The top 16 teams from each class qualify for the playoffs which are slated to begin Nov. 9 across the state.
Berkeley Springs is this week’s No. 1 team with a 5-0 record and 11.40 rating.
Bluefield (4-0) is second, James Monroe (6-0) third, defending Class AA state champion Wayne (6-0) fourth and Keyser (4-1) fifth.
Tolsia, last year’s state runner-up, was sixth with a 5-1 record and 8.83 rating.
Scott (4-2) shot up to seventh in the rankings, while Liberty-Raleigh (4-1) was eighth and Magnolia (4-2) ninth.
Chapmanville was 10th with a 7.17 rating, ahead of Clay County (4-2) and Grafton (4-2) which were tied for 11th with 6.83 points.
Wyoming East (4-2) is 13th, Independence (4-2) 14th, Tyler Consolidated (3-2) 15th and Liberty Harrison (3-2) 16th.
Poca and Sissonville of the Cardinal Conference were tied for 20th.
Although there is still a month left to play in the regular season it is interesting to note that if the season ended today Chapmanville would travel to Scott for a first-round playoff game. The Tigers knocked off Scott 21-20 earlier in the season at home.
In Class A, area team Gilbert (5-1) is fifth.
Matewan is 11th, Williamson 19th, Tug Valley 29th, Man 33rd and winless Burch 37th.
