Local police racked up theft and other arrests in recent weeks.

Edmond Conley, 28, of Chapmanville, was arrested by deputies Jason Mathis and Dennis Brown of the Logan County Sheriff's Department for petit larceny and trespassing on Nov. 6. Also arrested was Timothy C. Michael, 26, of Huntington on charges of trespassing, petit larceny and possession of a controlled substance.

According to police reports the officers were on patrol in Mt. Gay when they observed a black Toyota truck parked at the old Chirico's Restaurant building.

"Upon inspecting the vehicle, we observed scrap metal in the truck and some laying beside the truck," the report states. "We entered the building and located two male subjects removing scrap metal in an adjacent room. We asked them if they had the owner's permission and they stated "no." Upon patting them for weapons, Lt. Brown located a pipe with marijuana residue in it on Timothy C. Michael. Upon speaking with the owner of the building, he stated that he didn't give anyone permission to enter the building or remove anything. "

Both men were taken into custody and were booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at 4:15 p.m. on $5,000 bond.
