Forgery charge lands woman in jail

A local woman was arrested over the weekend on forged check charges.

Michelle Lea Baisden, 31, of Chapmanville, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Trooper G. W. Collins for forgery and uttering on Nov. 23.

According to police reports, from July 14 to November 17, Baisden allegedly forged checks.

"This officer received a complaint from Ruth Baisden in regard to a forgery complaint," the report states. "The victim advised that several checks were forged by the accused, Michelle Baisden. This officer received copies of the checks... bearing the accused's signature. Upon speaking to the accused, the accused ... admitted to the incidents."

Michelle Baisden was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at 12:48 p.m.
