It was an early Christmas at the Logan City Hall on Thursday as West Virginia’s Lt. Governor came to town to present a big gift to new Logan Mayor Serafino Nolletti.

Senate President-Lt. Governor Earl Ray Tomblin gave the Logan City Council $50,000 to help the city fund its paving project.

Nolletti said the funds are to be used to fund the city’s long-term paving project, after the city received a promise of assistance from Senator President Tomblin.

Tomblin and Nolletti also spoke with state Department of Environmental Protection officials about the package sewage treatment plant at the Fountain Place Mall. Mayor Nolletti noted that the city has worked on that particular project for several months this past year.

Sen. Tomblin told The Logan Banner he is happy to be of assistance to the city on the paving project, and that the $50,000 will go towards an overall bigger project totaling $250,000.

“Thank you Senator, we will spend that money wisely, but we will spend it,” quipped councilman Greg Glick.
