Introducing

Shawn Donavan Wolford would like to introduce his baby brother, Braxton David Wolford. Braxton was born September 13, 2007, at 12:17 p.m. at CAMC Women's and Children's Hospital in Charleston. He weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long. They are the sons of Shawn and Tracy Wolford of Henlawson and the grandsons of Clifford "Snooker" and Linda Martin and Larry and Susan Wolford, all of Henlawson.

One year old

Lexie Nicole Lusk celebrated her first birthday on October 30, 2007. She is the daughter of Brian and Ashley Lusk of Davin and the granddaughter of Rodney and Marilyn Lusk of Cyclone, Ray and Tammy Stacy of Davin and Tim Isaacs of Cross Lanes. Lexie is the great-granddaughter of Leonard and Opal Lusk of Cyclone, Harold and Minnie Isaacs of Cross Lanes and Harold and Helen Stacy of Mallory.

Cousins celebrate birthdays

Lindsay Grace Thompson and Bo Douglas Thompson have celebrated their second birthdays.

Lindsay, the daughter of Roger and Marilyn Thompson of Milton, celebrated her birthday on April 16, 2007. She is the granddaughter of Roger and Sherry Thompson of Man and George and Linda Leese of Milton. She is the great-granddaughter of Lorriane Leese of Milton.

Bo Douglas, the son of Brad and Perri Thompson of Man, celebrated his birthday on July 8, 2007. He is the grandson of Roger and Sherry Thompson, Linda Adkins and the late Douglas Adkins, all of Man.

Compton-Trent engaged

Tony and Tish Compton of Amherstdale would like to announce the engagement of their daughter, Tiffany Leigh, to Alex Trent, the son of David and Rita Trent of Davin. Tiffany is a 2005 graduate of Man High School and certified as a medical assistant and phlebotomist. Alex is a 2002 graduate of Man High School and is currently majoring in mechanical engineering at WVU Tech where he will graduate in May of 2008. A wedding is being planned for the summer of 2008.

Seven years old

Celebrating her seventh birthday on Wednesday, December 5, will be Jaycee Abbott, the daughter of Shavon and Jason Abbott of Switzer. Jaycee is the only girl grandchild of Diane and Sam Abbott of Monaville.

Loggins attends journalism program

Whitney Loggins, the daughter of Dave and Angie Loggins of Verdunville, was selected to participate in the Scholastic Journalism Program at Marshall University on November 6-8. She was one of only 12 students selected to participate by the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

While there, Loggins participated in classes and student media with a college student mentor. The program was designed to allow incoming students to decide whether college journalism would be right for them.

Loggins was selected because of her journalism credentials and enthusiasm. Her name was submitted by her video class teacher, Joe Carroll.
