A Logan County man has been charged in the death of a 7-year-old Jeffrey girl in a car crash at Lake.

Logan County Prosecutor Brian Abraham said Johnny Woody, 34, of Lake, was charged Thursday night with DUI causing death in the fatal vehicle crash that claimed the life of Bridgit Blankenship on Nov. 17 at Lake. Allegedly, after he hit the car in which Blankenship was riding with family members, Woody then crashed into the home of Shirley and David Welker. The truck was lodged in the home for at least three days before it could be removed.

Woody is currently lodged in the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden on a $25,000 cash-only bond set by Logan County Magistrate Leonard Codispoti. Woody was arrested earlier this year for DUI and failure to maintain control of his vehicle, but was released on a personal recognizance bond of $3,500.

If found guilty of the charge of DUI causing death, Woody faces a large fine and up to 10 years in prison, Abraham said.
