Approximately 54 women attended the event. Logan County was represented by the woman's clubs of Logan and Omar. Triadelphia and Chapmanville clubs are also in the Southwestern District.
The invocation was given by Betty Couch from the Pea Ridge Club. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States was given by the Point Pleasant juniors.
Joy Bryant Harris, convention chairman, from the Pea Ridge club gave the welcome. Brenda Sizemore, acting treasurer, gave the credential and treasurer's report.
Evelyn Carpenter, parliamentarian, presented some proposed bylaws change. The 2008-09 proposed budget was presented by Shirley M. Baisden of Logan, first vice president. Loretta Wain of the Westmoreland Woman’s Club was elected to be on the GFWC WV nominating committee.
Beverly Hill of the Point Pleasant Woman's Club served as the election chairman for the 2008-2010 officers. The new officers will be Shirley M. Baisden, president; Roslyn Roush, first vice president; Patricia Walker, second vice president; Jill Stone, secretary; Brenda Sizemore, treasurer and Debbie Roberts, historian.
The Omar woman's club won the $10 mileage award Roselyn Roush, president, invited the district to Point Pleasant for the 2008 meeting.
Alexis Behrens, Junior Director represented the Junior Woman’s Club. Others present were Cathy Jo Canterbury, Junior Director-elect; Robin Adkins, SW Dist Director. A presentation of the "Linda Messinger," Junior of the Year Award was held.
All of the clubs donated theme baskets that were auctioned off by Brenda Sizemore.
