Friday afternoon's Logan Wildcat game had an international flavor.

The Logan High School boys' basketball team squared off with Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy of the Bahamas in a consolation round game in the Chick-fil-A Classic at Columbia, S.C.

The Wildcats came away victorious by a 54-41 count at Columbia's Richland Northeast High School. Logan had opened the 16-team tourney with a 64-55 loss to Pinewood Prep (S.C.) on Thursday night.

Logan led Tabernacle 20-18 at the half, then dominted the final 16 minutes by outscoring the Falcons 34-23 to notch the win and evening its tourney record at 1-1.

Junior center Jonathan Bevins was the catalyst for the Cats as he dropped in a game-high 21 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Bevins was 9-of-17 from the floor and 3-of-7 from the free throw line. He also had an assist and a steal.

"I thought he played really well," Logan coach Mark Hatcher said of Bevins after the game. "He missed a couple of bunnies in there but he did a good job and I was very pleased with him. He got more involved and you saw that he was more of himself. He did really well on the boards for the second straight night. He had 11 boards last night (vs. Pinewood). Our guys really made a good attempt at getting him the ball. It was a good team effort by everybody."

Paul Williamson, a freshman transfer from Harts, had 10 points for Logan. He was 3-of-5 from the field and 2-of-3 from 3-point land. Williamson was 2-of-2 from the foul line and added three rebounds and two assists.

"He's a great player and he's going to get better with more experience and with more familiarity with everybody," Hatcher said. "He's a great kid and he understands the game very well. He's become more and more relaxed."

Greg Adams added eight points for the Wildcats. Brantz O'Briant had seven points for the game as he made 5-of-6 of his charity tosses.

Brett Sorrell and Caleb Luther both had three points as the pair each hit one 3-pointer for the game. Jordan Butcher and Pete Lowery chipped in with two points each.

Derek Gaiter led the team from the Bahamas with 14 points and three rebounds.

Logan shot 52 percent from the field for the game as the Cats hit on 21-of-40 shots. The Wildcats were 13-of-20 in the second half for 65 percent. Logan was just 8-of-20 in the first half.

The Cats were 4-of-11 from the 3-point arc and 10-of-17 from the foul line.

Tabernacle (12-6) shot 38 percent for the game.

Logan outrebounded the Falcons 26-23.

The Cats trailed Tabernacle 15-9 in the first half but went on an 11-3 run to take the two-point lead the half.

Tied at 26 early in the second half, Logan went on a 12-2 run to take a 38-28 lead. The scoring spree was fueled by a Williamson 3-pointer, an Adams bucket and a Lowery layup.

It was all Logan after that.

O'Briant canned two free throws with 40 seconds left in the game to make it 54-41.

The game, like all Chick-fil-A tourney contests, were divided into two 16-minute halves instead of the usual four eight-minute quarters.

After the game, Logan was reportedly invited to participate next Christmas in Tabernackle's holiday tournament in the Bahamas.
