The host Chapmanville Regional High School Lady Tigers was expected to roll past Class A Van.
The Man Lady Billies were expected to hand it to Sherman.
Chapmanville and Man were expected to meet each other in the finals.
That’s exactly what happened as Man breezed past Sherman 50-29 in the first game and the Lady Tigers won with ease over Van, 46-16, in the other first-round tourney game.
With the wins, Chapmanville (3-3) was scheduled to meet county rival Man (6-1) in last night’s championship game in a rematch of last year’s final which was won by CHS.
Van managed to score just three points in the first half of Friday night’s game as Chapmanville led 21-3 at the break. the Lady Tigers then outpointed the Lady Bulldogs 15-8 in the third quarter to make it a 36-11 ballgame.
Lydia Vance led the Lady Tigers with a 10-point effort.
Andi Williamson had nine, while Brittani Lowe and Lauren Shumate had eight points apiece.
Poppy Ramey, Cortney Willis, Tiffani Hale, Brooke Mounts and Kendra Meade all had two points each. Rachel Bailey had one point.
Kristen Jarrell netted seven of Van’s 16 total points.
Man had an easy time with the Tide, leading 16-8 after one quarter, 27-14 at the half and 42-18 after three.
Paige Stacy had 14 points to lead the Lady Billies. Malorie Keffer and Tabitha Johnston had 12 points each. Cortney Browning had nine, Breanna Donahue two and Marlena Frye one.
Megan Williams paced Sherman with 10 points. Crystal Halstead had seven, Madison Bowman six, Amanda Browning three, Brittany Merritt two and Jessica Hudson one.
