As the outdoor year closes, will you remember some of its highs, lows or other events? It was kind of a quiet one in the fish and game annals. However, the heat and drought with some late year reprieve and its dreaded link with deer disease made the biggest headlines.
The year long drought with an explosive fall forest fire potential was finally quenched by more than ample late precipitation. As such, no California-like towering inferno was had. The heat that accompanied the drought may have prolonged a severe outbreak in EHD or “blue-tongue” disease in our treasured deer herds.
Documented by DNR in more than half the Mountain State counties, the disease took its toll
