Darrell Curtis Washington, 40, of Accoville, was arrested by Patrolman T.C. Goins of the Man Police Department for counterfeiting and obtaining goods by false pretenses on Jan. 2.
According to law enforcement reports, Washington allegedly asked the victim "for change on a $50 bill." The victim gave Washington six $5 bills and one $20 bill "and received a fake $50 bill from Darrell Curtis Washington and stuck it in her purse."
The victim asked her son to take the bill to the bank where an employee "took the $50 bill and checked to see if it was counterfeit," the report states. The employee used a counterfeit pen and noticed the color change indicating it was fake. She reportedly took the bill to a supervisor who agreed it was counterfeit. The bill was returned to the victim's son who was told it was fake. The victim then called the Man Police Department.
A warrant was issued for Washington's arrest and he was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at 9:08 p.m.
