But it wasn’t quite enough as the Lady Billies lost 65-60 Wednesday in overtime to fall to 7-3 on the season. All five of Man’s starters n Courtney Browning, Malorie Keffer, Marlena Frye, Tabby Johnston and Paige Stacy n fouled out.
Browning and Stacy fouled out in the early moments of the fourth quarter and Man tried to stall in order to hold on for the victory. The Lady Billies led 45-39 after three but visiting Westside was able to outscore Man 17-11 in the fourth to tie the game 56-56 at the end of regulation.
Then as Man players continued to foul out the Renegades won the game in the overtime by outpointing the Lady Billies 9-4.
“We didn’t take care of the ball when we started stalling,” Man coach Tonia Ward said. “We had too many turnovers but they played hard and didn’t quit. We just had boo-koos of turnovers.”
Man was 19-of-35 from the foul line for the game. Westside made 17-of-34 of its charity tosses.
Keffer and Frye led Man with 19 points each before both fouled out. Browning had eight, Johnston seven and Stacy three. Malorie Vance came off the bench to score four points.
Ashley Stepp and Kyleisha Kirkindoll led Westside with 17 and 16 points respectively.
Man is set to host county rival Logan on Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. The Lady Billies beat the Lady Cats 41-38 earlier in the season.
