CLEAR FORK n Westside swept the season series with the Man High School boys’ basketball team with Tuesday night’s 69-58 win over the Hillbillies at the Westside High School gym. Man, which dropped to 6-9 on the season with loss, had been beaten 64-52 by the Class AA Renegades at home on Jan. 11. Man jumped out to a 3-0 lead in last night’s game after Cory Spence hit a 3-pointer and led Westside 19-18 after one quarter of play. But it was the Renegades which outscored Man 12-8 in the second quarter to take a 30-27 lead at halftime. Westside then pretty much controlled the rest of the game, outscoring the Billies 20-13 in the third quarter to lead 50-40 after three. In the fourth quarter, Westside outpointed Man 19-18 to finish off the win. “We have got to be more aggressive on the boards, quit standing around and set up some offensive plays,” Man coach Jimmy Justice said. Spence led Man with 17 points. Travis Hurley was right behind with 16. Zac Robinson had 13 for the night. Evan Riggins netted five, while Thomas Booth had three and Tyler Browning and Khris Tolliver had two each. Eric Bailey led Westside with 34 points. Travis Whitten had 10 and Matt Brewster and Dennie Hicks had eight apiece. The Billies are scheduled to return to the hardwood on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. against Mount Hope in the first-ever LB&T Shootout at Logan High School’s Willie Akers Arena. Man then goes to Tug Valley on Tuesday night.
