Chapmanville netters split with Tug Valley, Williamson

CHAPMANVILLE n The Chapmanville Regional High School tennis team split in Tuesday’s home meet with the Williamson boys and the Tug Valley girls.

The Lady Tigers beat Tug Valley 6-1 but the Chapmanville boys fell to the Wolfpack, 4-3.

In the girls’ match, Tug Valley’s Chelsea Phillips beat Chapmanville’s Kristen Justice 9-7 in the No. 1 singles.

Chapmanville then won the other six matches.

No. 2 singles girl Sara Henson won 8-1 over Tug Valley’s Chelsie Adkins. Laura Bailey won 8-6 over Natalie Branham in the No. 3. Whitney Copley prevailed 8-1 over Bethany Workman in the No. 4.

Justice and Henson then won 8-0 over Phillips and Adkins in the No. 1 doubles.

Bailey and Whitney Jarrells were an 8-0 victor over Tug Valley’s Workman and Kelsey Toler.

Then in the No. 3 doubles, Copley and Olivia Freeman of CRHS won 8-0 over Branham and Katherine Endicott.

In the boys’ match, Chapmanville’s Zach Manley won 8-5 over Williamson’s tyler Matney in the No. 1 singles.

In the No. 2, Williamson’s Andrew Burchfield won 8-3 over the Tigers’ Parth Patel.

In the No. 3, Jace Brance of WHS won 9-7 over Chapmanville’s Ben DesRocher

Sam DesRocher of Chapmanville then took an 8-0 victory over Jimmy Corbett in the No. 4.

In the No. 1 doubles, Matney and Burchfield won over Manley and Bryan Collins of CRHS.

Branch and Corbett then took an 8-6 win over Patel and John Carr of Chapmanville in the No. 2 doubles.

In the No. 3 doubles match the law office sounding team of DesRocher and DesRocher won 8-2 over Williamson’s Nathan Ward and Cody Lambert.
