Hager to be inducted into Hall of Fame today

Secretary of State Betty Ireland will induct Logan County voter Earl Hager into the West Virginia Voter Hall of Fame Thursday, March 27,at the Logan County Courthouse.

Hager, 98, of Logan, will be inducted into the newly-created West Virginia Voter Hall of Fame during a 2 p.m. ceremony in the Logan County Clerk's office by Secretary of State Betty Ireland.

Hager served 10 straight terms, from 1953 to 1973, as a member of the House of Delegates. He also worked for 41 years in the Logan County Schools system as a teacher and principal.

The Voter Hall of Fame recognizes state citizens who have voted in every General Election for at least 50 consecutive years.

Ireland will honor Mr. Hager as an inductee into the hall of fame. Also scheduled to attend the ceremony is Logan County Clerk John Turner, along with Hager's family and friends.

"The West Virginia Voter Hall of Fame inductees truly understand the significance of living in a free democracy, and the importance of exercising their right to vote," Ireland said in a press release from her office. "Having a 50-year consecutive voting history indicates these citizens recognize their vote is precious and has been secured for them by generations of patriots
