Local police continue to make drug arrests throughout Logan County.

Melishia Lynn Butcher, 35, of Chapmanville was arrested by members of the U.S. 119 Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, on March 25 for two counts of delivery of a controlled substance.

According to law enforcement reports, on Jan. 4, 2007, and Jan. 16, 2007, the officers "did make controlled purchases of cocaine from the defendant by utilizing a cooperating individual."

"On both occasions, U.S. currency was exchanged for the controlled substance and both purchases were conducted in the Mount Gay area of Logan County."

A warrant was issued for her arrest and she was taken into custody and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 5:11 p.m.

Area police took more methadone off the street recently following a routine traffic stop according to law enforcement reports.

Randall Cecil Bobbitt, 42, of Gypsy, was arrested by Logan County Sheriffs Deputy T. R. Brumfield for possession of a controlled substance, driving on a suspended license, no insurance and improper registration on March 18.

According to police reports, Deputy Brumfield was on a traffic stop at Speedway in Huff Creek when Randall Bobbitt allegedly pulled in driving a blue Jeep.

"I knew his license was revoked because I was with Sgt. Ray Bryant when he arrested him for DUI," the report states. "So I went over to Randall and asked him for his license and he said he didn't have any that they were (sic) suspended, and the tags didn't go on the jeep, and he had no insurance on it. So I ran a 10-27 on it and it came back suspended... After searching the jeep, I found some syringes and methadone and some baggies."

He was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 11:50 p.m.

In other law enforcement news:

Raichelle Dawn Brunty, 36, of Lorado, was arrested by Logan County Sheriffs Deputy J.L. Mathis for possession of a controlled substance, driving left of center, possession of a controlled substance and driving on a revoked license on March 24.

According to police reports, Deputy Mathis was traveling south on Route 10 when he saw a maroon Mercury Sable allegedly cross the center line. He ran a license check on the vehicle which came back "improper" and initiated a traffic stop.

"Upon speaking with the defendant, I noticed she was not wearing a seat belt," the report states, adding her license came back as being revoked for unpaid citations. "While this deputy was patting down the defendant for officer safety, I asked if she had any weapons or drugs on her and she stated that there was some marijuana cigarette roaches in the ashtray. Upon looking in the vehicle, I located four marijuana cigarette roaches and one marijuana cigarette, along with one oval shaped pill marked Watson/3202 believed to be generic loratabs (schedule III)."

Brunty was taken into custody and booked at the regional jail at 12:00 a.m.
