A trio of meetings aimed at senior citizens will be coming to Logan, Man and Chapmanville in April, according to Stephanie Birchfield, executive director of the PIECES drug prevention coalition.

"We are going to be highlighting the topic of prescription drug abuse and how it relates to seniors," Birchfield explained on Monday. "We are also partnering with PRIDE in Logan Inc. who will be providing the transportation and food for these events."

Pharmacist Kathy White will be talking about prescription drug abuse, how to properly store and dispose of drugs, and how to make sure they aren't abusing prescription drugs.

A member of the U.S. 119 Drug and Violent Crime Task Force will provide a presentation about the process of reporting drug activity and what can happen if you are caught selling or sharing prescription drugs.

Birchfield said another speaker will discuss the topic of making seniors aware of the potential of their families’ accessibility to their prescription drugs. Dinner will be provided each night and door prizes will be given out.

The presentations will be held on:
