Recently the Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Logan High School observed an out of school Winter Sports Rally Day. Student athletes from basketball, cheerleading, dance and wrestling teams were in attendance from the Logan area.

The First Baptist Church of McConnell was the setting for this event. Founder of the Logan County Girls League, Mike Tothe, spoke about the growing success of that league. Al Minnick of the Logan Buddy League gave a report on the different Logan All-Star Teams that participate in the Kanawha Valley Youth Buddy League and Kim Ellis, sponsor of the Logan Buddy League All-Star Cheerleaders introduced those young ladies.

Representatives from the Logan Middle School Cheerleaders, Logan High School Cheerleaders and the Logan High Junior Varsity squads were in attendance. Jamie Tomblin, sponsor of the Logan JV girls, discussed the award winning achievements of the Logan High School girls. Wrestling coaches Gary Mullins and Jason Davis were proud to state the record of their teams especially of state qualifier, Mike Cotterall, who won his first match in the heavy weight division at the state tournament.

The Logan Middle School Boys Basketball Team finished with a perfect undefeated record. Parent representative, Steve Browning, gave details on their accomplishments and the championship of the Mid-Valley Conference Tournament.

Logan High Basketball Coach Mark Hatcher gave introduction to the members of the Wildcat Team and elaborated on the success of the 2007-08 season.

The highlight of the morning was hearing the success story of former Logan High School athletes, now husband and wife, Anthony "Tweety" and Toni Green Hairston. Both these folks were outstanding students and great contributors to the Logan High School Athletic Program.

Toni Green Hairston was inducted into the Logan High School Athletic Hall of Fame of 2007. Tweety and Toni gave wonderful advice for everyday living and challenged the student athletes to live for God and prepare for their future through education.

A luncheon was enjoyed by the parents, coaches and student athletes that attended following the service in the church's Leota Campbell Fellowship Hall.
