CHIEF LOGAN STATE PARK - Four City of Logan firefighters were honored Friday afternoon for their bravery in the late February Clubhouse Suites fire that destroyed an entire apartment building.

The firemen - Tony Casey, Nick Ferrell, Mike Beckett and Carl Baisden - risked their lives to save several people trapped inside the burning building and were honored by Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin and the Logan County Commission for their heroism.

Tomblin praised the four firemen and gave them each certificates from the Senate of West Virginia recognizing their bravery.

When the firemen arrived on the scene, fire was already shooting through the roof and smoke was thick inside building. They used Ladder Truck No. 1 to help bring the trapped third-floor occupants out of the fiery building.
