The drivers of the two vehicles were reportedly flown by Healthnet helicopter to Charleston hospitals. Both Jessica Gerhardt-Stout of Ferrellsburg and Jessie Bell were flown to Charleston hospitals for treatment of their injuries, a family member of Gearheart's told The Logan Banner Tuesday morning.
According to the source, Gerhardt-Stout's 5-year-old son, Oliver, was also injured and had to be taken to Charleston Area Medical Center for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash, which happened before 5 p.m. yesterday.
Reports said the vehicle driven by Bell pulled into the path of Gerhardt-Stout's vehicle as it traveled Route 10. Gerhardt-Stout had just taken her son for a doctor's appointment, the family member said. Gerhardt-Stout reportedly suffered severe lacerations and a collapsed lung and remained hospitalized this morning. The West Virginia State Police investigated the crash.
